We are The Watch Dog Den — a family-run breeding and training facility on the Gold Coast, producing working-line German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois and Labradors for protection, detection and serious family homes across Australia.
Built by Working-Dog People
The Watch Dog Den was founded on a simple belief — that a great working dog should also be a great family member. Our background is in police, military and protection-dog work, but the dogs we breed and train spend most of their lives at home with families.
We've spent decades importing, breeding and training elite working-line dogs from European bloodlines. Today we run a purpose-built facility in Nerang on the Gold Coast — with a hydrotherapy pool, full agility course, scent-work areas, and secure climate-controlled boarding for our board & train programmes.
Our breeding programme is selective by design. We do not breed for volume, colour or fashion — we breed for genuine working ability, health, and the temperament to live safely alongside children, neighbours and other pets. Why We Only Breed Working Lines
Two dogs from the same breed can be wildly different animals depending on the line they come from. Working-line dogs are selected for genuine ability — not appearance, not fashion, not the show ring.
